366 Artists In 366 Days : Day 259 Number 108 Roy Orbison

Here's a cut and paste from another of my other blogs, when I wrote one on 'Artists Whose Voice Can Make Me Cry':

Roy Orbison had a tragic personal life. His first wife Claudette (of the Everly Brothers' song - the b-side to 'All I Have To Do Is Dream' - and who he married twice) was killed instantly in a road accident in 1966.
Two years later, whilst on tour in the UK, Roy's house in Tennessee burned down, killing his two eldest sons.
Dwight Yoakam said of him, "the cry of an angel falling backward through an open window."
Quite.

366 Artists In 366 Days : Day 258 Number 109 The Knack

Don't write off The Knack as mere one-hit wonders. For starters, they had three Top 40 US hits.
Fine purveyors of skinny tie pop, The Knack rocked.

Interesting cover of a Jet song...

366 Artists In 366 Days : Day 257 Number 110 Pugwash

Pugwash is a band I am so fortunate to have discovered about 10 years ago whilst listening to an online power pop radio station.
They are glorious and wonderful and they even have PUG in their name!
Thomas Walsh, you are amazing.
Please don't ever stop making music.

And then, just when you think you couldn't love them any more, they do this breathtaking, heartbreaking cover of my favourite E.L.O. song...

Oh, here's a bonus pic of my part-time pug, Betty, enjoying the 'Postcards' single...

366 Artists In 366 Days : Day 256 Number 111 Toto

I always thought this was an ode to Barbara Feldon A.K.A. 99 from Get Smart.
But it's not. It's actually a tribute to the George Lucas film, THX 1138.
Still a great song...
Because that's one of my niece's names...

366 Artists In 366 Days : Day 255 Number 112 silverchair

I remember when these boys first came on the scene. They weren't taken seriously. The press called them Nirvana In Pyjamas and silverhighchair.
They showed 'em...

I loved The Dissociatives album. So here are a couple of my favourite tracks from it...
