366 Artists In 366 Days : Day 36 Number 331 AC/DC

Here's some classic Aussie rock for you.
No need to say any more than that, I'm sure...

No need to say anything apart from this, perhaps...
Here is Bon in a former life as a bubblegum popster.
Awww...Who'd have thunk it?

366 Artists In 366 Days : Day 35 Number 332 Manfred Mann

Manfred Mann were named after their South African keyboard player, um, Manfred Mann...
It also included Beatlepal Klaus Voorman on bass (who replaced one Jack Bruce).

Manfred Mann's Earth Band...

'Hot Summer Night' by Night featured Manfred Mann's Earth Band backing vocalist, Stevie Vann.
I've included this because not only did it get to number three in Australia, and is from my favourite year in music, it also features erstwhile Macca axeman, Robbie McIntosh...
And it's a great song.

366 Artists In 366 Days : Day 34 Number 333 Jackdaw 4

A truly great band, who seemed to have been ignored by the critics and public alike.
Please enjoy some skillful power pop, courtesy of Willie Dowling and company...

366 Artists In 366 Days : Day 33 Number 334 Renee Geyer

When I was younger, I thought Renee Geyer was an awful, mental bitch.

Now I'm older, I think she's an amazing, mental bitch!

Not a very good driver though...

I never knew she did a version of The Restless Years...

366 Artists In 366 Days : Day 32 Number 335 The Tubes

This is one of my 'Funeral Songs'. Just beautiful and far more deserving of the #60, 36 and 35 placings it received in the UK, US and Australia respectively back in 1981.

Strangely, the only original version I could find of this brilliant song...

And here is another TR production. There should be plenty of these over the next year...

This song features the lovely Michele Gray Rundgren on co-vocals.

And here's some nice 80s AOR from Fee...

366 Artists In 366 Days : Day 31 Number 336 Robert Palmer

I grew up in Australia before moving to the UK in the late 1980s.
Whenever this song came on the radio, I was convinced it sounded different to the version I knew.
I was right. This is the UK release...

And here he is performing the Aussie version on my beloved Countdown...
Subtle differences, but the better version, I think.

Interestingly, 'Simply Irresistable' reached the top of the Australian charts, got to number two in the US, yet only 44 in the UK...

366 Artists In 366 Days : Day 30 Number 337 Bob Evans

Bob Evans, or Kevin Edward Mitchell to his mother, is the singer/guitarist for rock band Jebediah. He took his stage name from a T-shirt he was wearing at the time.
Fortunately, he wasn't wearing the same t-shirt one of my brothers nearly once got expelled from school for. The one that had 'Go Fuck Yourself' in fake Hebrew letters on it, backwards...

I was at this gig...
